Amanda Prohaska

Spanish Classroom Door

¡Hola! I'm Señora Prohaska and this is my sixth year teaching Spanish at Mount Pleasant Academy.  I was born and raised in the upstate of South Carolina and completed my undergraduate degree at the University of South Carolina. I also have my M.Ed in Languages from the College of Charleston.

I am Colombian and I know from first-hand experience how beneficial knowing a second language is. Observing the benefits from teaching Mount Pleasant Academy’s Spanish program has brought a new level of appreciation on how influential and stimulating learning Spanish is, especially for the young mind!

I strive to make learning a foreign language very enjoyable through the use of arts.  I love incorporating music in all my units and hope I hope your child will feel stimulated and challenged throughout the year.

Connect by joining the class on Class Dojo.
Class Dojo is what I use to communicate with you about your child. It allows me to post class updates, assessment reminders, videos and pictures of a few highlights during our class time together. I also post study guides, vocabulary and assignments on it so that they are also accessible at home when materials are forgotten at school. The application also allows for points to be awarded for positive behaviors and points to be taken away for off task behaviors. Students can also create their own logins to monitor their progress.
