Meet the administration
Ms. Kim Jackson
Hi everyone. I am the principal of Mt. Pleasant Academy. I am proud to be entering my fourth year of administration. Just prior to this principalship, I served as the assistant principal for James B. Edwards Elementary School. I have lived in Mt. Pleasant my entire life and attended several public schools in the area. When I began my teaching career, it was important to me that I give back to my community. I've been in education for 27 years and served as a third grade teacher for 18 of those years. After leaving the classroom, I began supporting teachers as an instructional coach, lead teacher and assistant principal. I began my work here in 2017 after the retirement of long-time principal Jane Davis. I am proud to be serving this community and I look forward to many more great years.
Mrs. Katelyn Manahan
This will be my third year as Assistant Principal at Mt. Pleasant Academy and eleventh year with the Charleston County School District. After college, I moved to Charleston from Syracuse, New York and spent my first five years as a Special Education teacher. I received my Masters in Administration from The Citadel and began supporting teachers as an instructional coach for the Department of Exceptional Children. My administration experience began at Pinckney Elementary where I spent two years as an Assistant Administrator. Being part of this amazing school and community is a rewarding experience and I look forward to another fantastic school year.
